Vegan causushis at Dimension Latina, Brussels

Last night Mr Green V and I fancied a little treat and decided to have dinner out. As we live in downtown Brussels, the vegan options can be a little limited, which means we often end up going to the same 5 or 6 places if we just want to eat locally. I still spend a lot of time in the UK and it always strikes me as really strange coming back to Belgium and finding that often some restaurants just don’t really care about offering vegan food, or sometimes even vegetarian food, and have a bad attitude when you make the effort to ask them about options or try to modify a meal.  Although it is getting better…slowly.

However, I heard on the vegan grapevine of a Latin American restaurant that was vegan-friendly. What? Who? Where?

Dimension Latina is a gorgeous little family-run Peruvian restaurant, little under 5 minutes walk from the cheeky little chappie, the Manneken Pis (who, has a total of 941 teeny outfits – how adorable!).

Each Friday they offer all-you-can-eat causushis for just €15! But it gets better – they have a completely vegan mini menu consisting of 3 different types of causushis.

A causushis is essentially a little roll, made out of mashed potato, and consisting of a variety of filings. Served cold, they are tasty and light – perfect for a summer’s evening.


I tried all the vegan ones (naturally) and they were so delicious. Really… please go and try some next week, promise? The flavours are everything you could hope for, ranging from sour, to sweet and back again.

Although it took a little longer than expected to receive our food, we weren’t in a hurry, and of course it was clear that our causushis were being prepared fresh, and I’m never going to complain about that.

The service was great, and again this is very refreshing as I do notice the service in Brussels can be somewhat lacking on the whole! The ladies who served us were really friendly and helpful, and we muddled through the night using an amalgamation of French, English and Spanish!

This is definitely an ideal spot to head either for a 100% vegan outing, or if you are dining with a mixed crowd, as there is happily something for everyone. The main menu highlighted allergens clearly, which is much appreciated!

I will absolutely be heading back to Dimension Latina to enjoy more little causushis and I think I’ll try one of the cocktails next time!
