I am so excited to (finally) announce that I’m writing a book! The planning has been in the making for a wee while and it feels great to at last tell you all! The Contemporary Vegan is a guide to vegan living, without limits, designed to provide practical information and guidance, whether you’re already vegan or fancy learning a little more about the lifestyle. And guess what? I’m running a campaign on Publishizer which allows you a piece of the action! If you pre-order my book whilst the campaign runs (the next 30 days) then you’ll receive some goodies and bonuses!… View Post

Add your own business or favourite vegan-friendly place or brand listing for free here! Watch the intro video here! I’m so proud to announce my latest venture: The Green V Lifestyle Directory! My vision is to provide a service that vegans, vegetarians, yogis, lightworkers, spiritual people and other followers of a holistic lifestyle, where wellbeing is important to them, can basically land in a town or city and be able to find out where to eat, where to buy cruelty-free cosmetics, grab a green juice, where to get quality, non-leather, non-fur fashion, where to go to enjoy a wonderful yoga experience or… View Post

I certainly have contributed my fair share to this figure, but in the past 12 months the sales of vegan food items have increased by a staggering 1500% – wow! As reported earlier this year, there are now around 500,000 vegans living in the UK – a 260% increase over the past decade (#vegansquad). I know lots of people that are more conscious of reducing their meat and dairy intake, and with such fantastic animal-free products available on the market – like Alpro milks and yoghurts, Vitalite butter spread, Violife cheese and Linda McCartney’s sausages – it certainly is getting… View Post

There’s good news for UK veg-lovers as Pret A Manger today announced it will be keeping its Veggie Pret open on a permanent basis. Pret Chief Exec, Clive Schlee, said the first Veggie Pret offering in central London was “here to stay” after being so successful over the past couple of months. He added: “We had expected sales in the shop to decline as a result of the pop-up. “After the massive hype of the first few weeks, sales at Veggie Pret are still well up on where they were before the conversion.” There is also talk of the peeps from Pret opening more… View Post

It is with great pleasure that I can announce The Green V Swag Store is officially open! I’ve been a very busy little bee behind the scenes putting together designs which I hope you will love 🙂 Each month I’ll be donating 30% of the store’s profits to a different animal charity, and first up (for the remainder of August and the whole of September) is the Dr Hadwen Trust – the UK’s leading non-animal medical research charity in the UK. Elvira Savino, the deputy of the centre-right Forza Italia party, has stated that she wishes to see a controversial bill passed by the Italian government that will see parents who allow their children to eat a vegan diet potentially facing time in prison. Indeed, the draft bill claims vegan parents are imposing a diet “devoid of essential elements for [children’s] healthy and balanced growth”. Dieticians such as the American Dietetic Association say vegan diets are absolutely fine for infants and children, but stress that parents ensure that their children consume all the required nutrients in their diets, especially vitamin B12. Doctors have argued… View Post

With many companies now offering vegetarian and vegan meat alternatives, Beyond Meat is wanting to encourage omnivorous to try out its new animal-free product, the Beyond Burger. This new offering will be sold alongside real meat in the poultry and red meat aisles of Whole Foods, Colorado, US. It also claims to be “the world’s first plant-based burger that looks, cooks, and tastes like ground beef”. Ethan Brown, founder of Beyond Meat, said: “This is what I had in mind when I started the company.” In the battle between animal protein and plant protein, the launch of this new burger is a… View Post

A survey carried out by Ipsos MORI for the Vegan Society and Vegan Life Magazine has found that the number of vegans living in Britain has risen by 360% in the past 10 years, from 150,000 in 2006, to 542,000 in 2016. The Vegan Society commented that veganism is one of Britain’s “fastest growing lifestyle movements”. Jasmijn de Boo, chief executive officer of The Vegan Society, added that “more people than ever are now acting upon the health and environmental benefits of veganism, and finding out what really goes on in the meat and dairy industries and deciding they do not want… View Post

Some of you will have heard the rumours circulating about Quorn’s gradual shift to a 100% vegan range. The Green V spoke to the company yesterday and this is what they told us: “Whilst as a business we remain wholly committed and passionate about developing our Vegan range further and launching more delicious products, due to the technicalities involved as well as a shortage of potato protein – a vital ingredient – we cannot at this stage commit to making the entire range completely vegan. But watch this space as more products are coming!” We can’t wait to try some of their… View Post
