On Friday I had the great pleasure of attending a vegan brunch preview at Cafe Velvet, one of the trendy hotspots in the Saint Catherine area. Myself, the lovely couple from the BelgiumVeganEats Instagram page, and Lorena from The Happy Vegan Bakery had the opportunity to taste test the menu before the inaugural vegan brunch that took place at Cafe Velvet yesterday. It’s fantastic to see more and more places embracing veganism in Brussels, and just in the past three years I’ve noticed a huge leap in cafes and restaurants offering plant-based options. Sure, the vegan scene in Brussels isn’t… View Post

As I write this, it’s the final day of a little mini-break to Lisbon, that I arranged for Mr Green V’s 30th birthday! I’ve travelled a lot over the past year, mostly to do with work, so it was quite a novelty to have a proper holiday, with no laptop (!!) and no meetings. I’m usually extremely busy and always on the go, so this has been the perfect pause in the most beautiful surroundings. It’s no secret that I hate winter, I suffer from SAD, and with an olive skin tone and North African roots, I need a hearty… View Post

As we look to 2018, a lot of us want to start the new year with a change, and it’s fantastic to see so many people have signed up to take part in Veganuary for the first month of the year. I wanted to share this article that I wrote for Vegan Food & Living Magazine as I think it offers some practical help for those of us who want to do a little more for the vegan movement. I’d love to hear your thoughts, so do comment below! Wishing you all a wonderful New Year’s Eve, and all the… View Post

I fell in love with Florence within minutes. It has a beautiful, gentle, laid back air, but with all the benefits of city life, along with history, great food, and extremely friendly people. The city is surrounded by hills, and it is well-positioned for travel into the Tuscan countryside, ideal for walkers, cyclists and ramblers alike. Of course, when you travel, where you stay can make or break your trip, and I look back on my time in Firenze with such joy because of my experience at Velona’s Jungle Suites. This is simply the most exquisite design hotel/B&B I’ve ever… View Post

It feels like it’s been forever since my last blog post. I’ve been pretty much non-stop recently, but hopefully as we get closer to Christmas and New Year things will start to calm down… well, a little bit perhaps! I recently spoke at the prestigious event Vegan Days in Italy – the country’s biggest vegan festival – and I have to say it was one of the best weekends of my life! I’m sure you’ll agree that there’s something so inspiring and motivating about spending time with like-minded people – there’s a true energy and vibrancy. I feel revitalised after… View Post

I’ve been well and truly knocked down with the flu for the past few days, but as I’m slowly starting to come back to life, I thought a nice and uplifting post is in order. And what better way to feel uplifted than by talking about champagne? Yes. I love the all bubbles… prosecco, cava and of course champagne… I always feel chic when sipping on a glass (or une coupe de champagne as we say in French), it’s feel-good, oui? With Christmas festivities just a few weeks around the corner, if you’re organised and starting to put together your… View Post

I know that milk and cheese can be the final things that stop people from moving to a plant-based diet, or even if you just want to cut down on animal products, knowing what milk to use can be a little overwhelming and confusing.  Today I’m going to run through my top vegan/dairy-free milks, and what drinks they are most suited to. I’ve been vegan for almost 3 years, and before I moved over to the V side, I dabbled with dairy-free milk on and off, as I felt it was a healthier option.   Something that you may have already experienced is milk… View Post

Last week Mum and I went on a little mini-break up to York. I honestly can’t believe I’ve reached the age of 29 without ever visiting this beautiful city, and I’m so glad I finally managed to arrange a trip to explore it. It is such a picturesque location, with a really lovely mix of city life combined with traditional English shops, historic architecture and an almost homely feel. A touristic hotspot in the north of England, one of the main attractions for locals and visitors alike is the famous eatery, Bettys Tea Rooms. There are six Bettys in the… View Post

This year has been one of the most hectic I’ve ever had if I’m honest with you. It seems like I haven’t been in one place for too long and constantly working and creating behind the scenes. Of course, I love travel so I’m certainly not complaining (plus it’s all been research for my book and upcoming vegan city guides – whoop!), but sometimes I feel like (to quote Lord of the Rings), butter (vegan!) spread over too much bread. I’m hoping that I’ll have more time as we head to Christmas, once my current projects are completed… maybe 🙂… View Post

It’s no secret that Italy is my favourite country, and if you’ve read the Italy Diaries from the blog earlier this year, you’ll understand a little about why I am so obsessed with it. I first went to Rome almost 3 years ago, just before I went vegan, so it was wonderful to return in 2017 as a fully-fledged vegan, on the hunt for some plant-based Italian goodness. Rome is very vegan-friendly, and I firmly recommend taking some elasticated trousers with you because you will eat a lot. Even though a location is vegan-friendly, this doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll… View Post
