Your lips but better – the perfect lipstick shade

Your lips but better – the perfect lipstick shade

You don’t have to be a detective to realise that I enjoy a nude lip. Occasionally I’ll flirt with a darker or more reddish lipstick (like this gorgeous one from Guilty Free which I reviewed here) but most of the time I tend to stick to what I feel suits me best.Recently, I was very kindly sent the Lippy Girl Vegocentric lipstick in shade Schmoopy from the organic and natural beauty distributors, Botanical Brands.

Let me start off by saying, if you’re after that mysterious ‘your lips but better’ shade, then this is the post for you. Not only does this shade suit my skin tone, whether I’m fake tanned up or rocking my more natural glow, it accentuates the lips by drawing attention to them, yet without being too full on. To really make the lip area stand out, I recommend using a lip liner to draw around the lip line, or even over draw your lippity lips to give yourself more of a pout. I am currently loving this one from Elf Cosmetics, in shade Nude Pink.

Back in my pre-vegan days, I usually opted for Mac lipsticks as I found them the least drying, and I have to admit that it hasn’t always been easy to find a vegan and cruelty-free lipstick, in the shade I like, that doesn’t rub off quickly and doesn’t dry out my lips.

Pssst… if you struggle with lip dryness then try this: wet your toothbrush and gently rub away the dead skin on your lips. Repeat every day if needed, and remember to slather them with balm afterwards. I use this eco-friendly toothbrush  and I recommend this vegan lip balm.

I found the Lippy Girl Vegocentric lipstick was really lovely and hydrating (hurrah!). I didn’t get the crusty, dried lip thing (sorry, a little gross, but it’s the truth!) which is a major plus, especially with the cold weather recently.

It is also pretty long lasting, and when I wear it out and about, I don’t have to reapply unless I’ve had a large meal. I say a large meal, as it still stays on if I have a little snack, you know… like a teeny weeny vegan cake… just a small one though 😉

Lippy Girl does, of course, offer a range of different shades, so depending on your skin tone and tastes you might fancy a bolder purple or red lip, or perhaps a girly pink option. You can view all the shades available on the Botanical Brands website here.
