Ahoy! The latest podcast episode is live! Listen on iTunes by searching for The Green V Bites Back, or listen on Soundcloud here. If you haven’t watched Okja and What the Health on Netflix, I can’t recommend them enough, they are very much eye-opening and a couple of good options to watch with friends and family who might not be vegan. I headed over to London for a day on the Eurostar and got to sample some of their vegan options in Business Premier  (the food and service were both fantastic). I was in the Big Smoke to go to… View Post

I’ve been travelling a lot over the past couple of months, and something I always suffer with is ‘plane face’. Yup, my skin does NOT like flying, and no matter how much water I drink, if I travel with no make-up on or hit up a load of hot water and lemon before and after my flight, I always suffer with breakouts. One of my favourite products I use to help bring my skin back to its normal state is Botanicals Gentle Cleanse Melt. Oh it is just heaven! I have quite oily skin, so I use the sensitive and… View Post

It’s been a whirlwind couple of months, but there’s a brand spanking new podcast episode for you to listen to. We had a blast in Italy (oh  vegan croissants – how I miss thee) and the country is just as beautiful as I remember it. Catch up on my Italy diaries here for Rome, here for Florence and here for Milan. I admit, I did fall off the gluten-free wagon, but I’ve hauled myself back on top of it, and I’m feeling much better as a result. But, you know… pizza is such a cheeky temptress. You can look forward… View Post

I am SO excited to introduce our guest writer today, Steven Foulkes from MADE Diamonds. I am ALL about luxury, but it is important to me to ensure that everything is sustainable, ethical and of course vegan. When I found MADE Diamonds I was thrilled, as (although no plans to get married just yet…) previously I had assumed that diamonds were out of the running for an engagement ring due to the lack of clarity often surrounding their manufacturing.  Happily, diamonds can still be our best friends, and Stephen is going to talk all about what you need to look out… View Post

Two words. VEGAN HALLOUMI. Yes, for actual years have I been dreaming of this becoming a reality. I used to love halloumi as a veggie, and (no judgement please) I kind of missed it, especially at summer time. I’d heard a rumour on the vegan street that the amazing people over at Violife were apparently working on a Mediterranean style offering, and I’m VERY happy to say it now exists. I was kindly sent over some cheesy samples to try out. I also got sent some of the Violife Blu, which will appear in a separate post, so… View Post

After a little Italian interlude, I want to whisk you away to another wonderfully vegan-friendly city: Berlin. You probably know that Berlin is pretty much a vegan mecca. However, this can come as somewhat of a surprise, especially when you think of the typically meat/sausage-heavy diet associated with traditional German cuisine. I headed off to the Big B in search of the best vegan food, to really get a feel of the city, and of course, to find out where a travelling vegan can lay her head for a couple of nights.   The Almodóvar hotel is located in the… View Post

I’m very excited to introduce you to the lovely Rachel Warrillow who owns the fabulous vegan millinery that is Warrillow Studios. Enjoy!  How did your vegan journey start? It first started on Facebook, when I saw a really upsetting post; I can still picture it now. The same day I decided to give up meat, and became pescatarian. I started to feel a bit better about myself, lighter almost, and didn’t miss meat in the slightest, but my eyes had been opened… The more I learned, the less I wanted to eat animal products. I think I was slightly resistant… View Post

Now I’m back from Italy, and getting adjusted to my new routine I thought it was about time I introduce you to another brand I’ve been really enjoying. One of my favourite things about my work is finding fantastic vegan and cruelty-free products to share with you. It’s so important to me because I think people often get a little overwhelmed when trying to find suitable products, or perhaps they aren’t quite sure what skincare and make-up items are even vegan. Don’t worry, I get it – I’ve been there, and it’s confusing! Then, there’s the trial and error of… View Post

Day 5 It was with a very heavy heart that we left Florence – I think both Mr Green V and I totally fell in love with the place, and we were really sad to leave our suite at Velona’s Jungle. But we will be back, so watch this space! We arrived mid-afternoon in Milan, and our hotel, the Starhotels E.c.ho was just opposite the train station, nice and easy! We stayed in a junior suite which had its very own balcony that overlooked some of the city’s skyscrapers and the station. Milan’s central train station is a stunning building, so… View Post

Day 3 It was time to leave Rome, and whilst we could have done with an extra day there, Florence was calling! I have always wanted to go to Florence, and learning how vegan-friendly it was made it even more important for me to visit it. We grabbed a light lunch from Roma Termini station before getting on the train. Happily there was a ‘vegano’ sandwich at Chef Express (a chain cafe across Italy, which also sells vegan croissants, but sadly today they had sold out!). The lady who served me was so lovely and gave me a free drink… View Post

If you’ve been following me on Instagram and Instagram Stories, you’ll have seen I’ve been in Italy for the past week. Well, Italy is well and truly my spirit animal, and I’m now back in Belgium, feeling a little sorry for myself and also feeling a little run down after being on the go, non-stop for the past couple of weeks. I’ve always adored Italy, since my first visit when I was 7, right through to teen travels there, and then of course my adult explorations in recent years. I suspect it’s that delightful Mediterranean charm that attracts me, the… View Post

Last night Mr Green V and I fancied a little treat and decided to have dinner out. As we live in downtown Brussels, the vegan options can be a little limited, which means we often end up going to the same 5 or 6 places if we just want to eat locally. I still spend a lot of time in the UK and it always strikes me as really strange coming back to Belgium and finding that often some restaurants just don’t really care about offering vegan food, or sometimes even vegetarian food, and have a bad attitude when you… View Post

Do you have a goals list? I’m sure you do. I’ve always had a list of things I want to achieve, in fact, ever since I was a nipper I’ve been obsessed with lists…lists about lists…. Mr Green V will vouch that there are notebooks and post-its all around my desk, although I am trying to be a bit more digital, especially with my increasing travel. Anyway, I digress. Ever since I started out in my journey as a writer/editor/journalist I’ve always wanted my own column. Of course my blog is my special space to write whatever I wish, but… View Post
